Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to identify and explain the position of asymmetric warfare in the security doctrine of Iran in the Persian Gulf in front of the possible threats facing Iran in the Persian Gulf. This research seeks to answer the question, what is the place of asymmetric warfare in Iran's security doctrine in the Persian Gulf? Therefore, the hypothesis of the research has been developed in such a way that due to the asymmetry in military capabilities in terms of quantity and quality between Iran and the opposing countries including the United States in the Persian Gulf region, the method of asymmetric warfare in the form of using war tools such as speedboats , mines and cruise missiles have been adopted by Iran as a pillar of the security doctrine, through its use, Iran is trying to bring the necessary deterrence to itself. The findings of this research show that Iran has chosen this method of war due to its limitations and requirements, and using it has produced deterrence, self-sufficiency, self-reliance, structural change, and finally, a change in the enemy's strategy. In the following text, researchers have used "asymmetric war" theories as a theoretical framework; In addition, the study of books, articles, theses and available scientific and military documents have also been used. The nature of this research is descriptive and sometimes explanatory, and the method of data collection is library documents
