The world has recently witnessed a great development in
information and communication technology, which has
generally influenced the community institutions. As a result,
the smart school was established as one of the new institutions
that seek to employ modern technology in order to develop
their practices. The smart school is defined as the school that
uses applications of advanced technology in classrooms and in
school administration. It also contains an electronic library, and
provides educational and technological services for the
surrounding community.
In Malaysia, Smart Schools are part of the Malaysian
plan to employ information technology, where the students,
teachers, administrators, and parents use information
technology in various aspects of the educational process.
In Egypt, the Smart School Project started through
collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the
Ministry of Communications and Information Technology with
the aim of introducing information communication technology
in schools on a global level, and transforming the school into a
productive unit and a community education center.
