The Islamic world enjoyed glory, majesty and progression because
they have acted upon their ideology that was based on true Islamic
outlook. But in the recent centuries they have miserably declined and
without any doubt the most important factor behind such a stagnancy
and regression are their distance from Islamic life-giving instructions and
spread of alienation amongst the Muslim community [Ummah]. But with
all this, there have been prominent scholars and illustrious intellectuals
knowing the pros and cons of Islamic world and offered ways out of this
mess. The 19th and 20th centuries are special in this regard. The prominent
intellectuals such as Sayyed Jamal al-deen, Muhammad ‘Abduh, Imam
Khomeini and etc. emerged among the Muslim community and injected
new blood into dry vessels of Muslim society. Sir Muhammad Iqbal [of
Lahore] was undoubtedly an exceptional personality who could proffer
a new design and brought about a novel feeling amongst the oppressed
Muslim nations. The present article is determined to describe his views
[being a thoughtful individual understanding the needs of his time] and
deduce his opinions amidst his poems about Islamic awakening.
